By 1977, readers of Marvel Comics were treated to a slew of alternate realities in a series called ‘What If?’. But by six issues in, the series takes a sharp corner from serious exploration to “Let’s just give the Fantastic Four random powers for funsies.” Does it work? Grab the popcorn.
