Introducing: Spectacles
It’s been quite a wait, but Spectacles, a Memoir of Jewelry & Photography has been officially announced. Stephen Albair and I worked on his art-book-slash-memoir for a little over a year. And then, as the editor, I had to sit on my hands for another half a year while the book was formatted and printed.
But it was worth the wait. Spectacles blends beautiful, glossy full-color photos with personal stories from Albair’s motley past. Found object art from his collection help to tell stories about growing up in a small rural New Hampshire town, to the artist as a young man at the center of the Chicago and New York City night life in the 70s and 80s, through to his career as a teacher in San Francisco who never stopped being weird.
You can reserve your copy by going to StephenAlbair.com/books. But if you’re interested, I wouldn’t dawdle. This is a limited supply printing, so when they’re gone, they may be gone, gone.
